Large Stop Mount...

MOUNTING LOCATION: Inside Opening

CAN INSERTS BE USED: Yes - Side Screw Only

With the Large Stop Mount, Screen Panels (or Walls) are inserted into each opening and pushed forward until resting against the stop. The stop is simply oversized fascia (or column wrap). Units are then screwed in place either by face screwing through the Master Frame into the stop or by side screwing through the Master Frame into the structure's columns.  This is a very simple and secure installation that can be completed fully from the interior.

------------------------------------

Side Screwing: Most desirable and very secure. Use side screwing for both screen only installations and screen with insert installations. Screws must be a minimum of 2-1/2" long - 3" when using inserts. Install first screws 6" from outside edge on all four sides. Remaining screws should be installed every 24" (or 36") on all four sides of frame.

When side screwing, we recommend the use of a stainless steel trim-head type deck screw. Screws should be color matching and countersunk for a clean and professional installation. Most hardware stores carry a large selection of these types of screws.

------------------------------------

Face Screwing: Face screwing is not recommended when using inserts. Do not use screws that are less than 1-3/4" in length (2" preferred). Install first screws 6" from outside edge on all four sides. Remaining screws should be installed every 36" on all four sides of frame.

When face screwing, we recommend the use of a stainless steel bugle-head type deck screw. Screws should be color matching and countersunk for a clean and professional installation. Most hardware stores carry a large selection of these types of screws. Since screw heads will be visible, other types such as Cap Heads and Pan Heads are also acceptable.

------------------------------------

It is recommended that sufficient help be available during installation to lift and hold Panel(s) or Wall(s) in place until they are fully mounted to structure. If your opening requires the installation of more than 1 panel into the opening "R" CHANNELS would be used to cover all panel seams.  See "R" CHANNEL INSTRUCTIONS for details.

Measuring...

Measuring for the large stop mount is extremely simple.

  • 1) Measure each opening height and width. Measure in several locations (top, middle, bottom, left side, center, right side, etc.) and record the smallest measurements taken. (To help, you may find it better to draw out each opening and note the measurements and locations taken)
  • 2) Determine the amount of gap you would like for each side of each panel. Normally a gap of 1/8" on all sides is sufficient but the is will depend upon the stop sized used and how out of square your opening is. Severely out of square openings may require a larger stop, a larger gap, or both.
  • 3) Subtract the gap amount from the smallest opening measurements taken for each opening. Remember - to include the gap required for all 4 sides. EXAMPLE: If you've determined a 1/8" is good for each side, you'll need to subtract 1/4" from your smallest opening width and from your smallest opening height.
  • 4) The resulting sizes would be your true manufacture size for each panel or wall being ordered.
  • This is what we call the "Tip To Tip" (TTT) size.

You can also modify this installation as required for your particular installation requirements.

Very Important...

In all cases, your submitted sizes are to be True Manufacture Sizes (TTT production sizes) required. We do not modify order sizes.

Also, all information and directions provided by CSW, Inc. should be treated as generic guides which are intended to help you plan, measure and order screens. Our directions are applicable and correct for a great majority of situations - but not all. In some situations they may need to be modified.  In some situations they may not be applicable at all. The responsibility to determine this and the responsibility to order items correctly rests solely on the customer. We make no guarantee, warrantee or promise of any kind that the directions (guides) we provide will work in every application. Please read and understand all information provided on this web site.  For additional information please review our POLICIES page fully.

Installation Skill Level...

Proper planning is essential for trouble free installation. Most skilled DIY'ers should be able to perform this installation with little or no trouble. We would expect a general home improvement contractor, with no knowledge of our product line, to have no problem with this installation suggestion.
