Vinyl Inserts

Vinyl inserts are a great way to protect your porch or other openings from the elements during the off season. Manufactured from the same frame material used for insect screen panels these panels are a far more economical choice when compared to tempered glass or polycarbonate inserts. Our PVC is a durable .016g double polished - UV stabilized - material that will withstand the elements and resists scratching. UV stabilization provides the added protection required to resist yellowing or fogging that tends to occur over time with non-UV stabilized materials including Plexiglas. It is easily installed or repaired and provides a beautiful clear view.

Why use PVC in place of glass ?...

Glass inserts are an overkill - period. Screen rooms are not meant to be 4 season rooms. If you wanted a 4 season room you wouldn't be here right now. The truth is, customers purchase glass inserts "to protect or winterize their porch during the off season" and to "gain a few extra weeks of use before and after the season". With these simple goals in mind, why spend so much extra money when PVC will do the same job and perform very well.  Additionally:

  • PVC inserts cost far less than glass inserts.
  • PVC inserts weight allot less than glass inserts so you'll be able to move them around with little effort.
  • PVC inserts can be stored flat, stacked, on their side - whatever.
  • PVC material can withstand serious abuse without being damaged.
  • PVC costs very little to repair and can be done yourself without having to go to a glass shop.
  • and so on....

Having doubts? Request a sample. Throw it in your freezer for awhile, bend it, try to tear it, etc. We tested this material for over a year - we were so impressed we discontinued glass insert options altogether.

Home or job site manufacture...

No special tools are required for home or job site manufacture. Simply cut a second set of frames when building your screen panels and install the vinyl in the exact same fashion as insect screen material - except slightly looser - to allow for slight vinyl shrinkage during cold weather. It's that simple. (shown right: FRM1716 screen insert with matching FRM1716 vinyl insert. shown left: PVC installed into frame utilizing spline.)

Note the following points when considering these inserts for off season use:

  • Use only with FRM1716, FRM1716E, or FRM516E materials
  • One dimension of your frame must be under 50".
  • Follow our support bar recommendations for the frame material being used.
