Housing Mount...

Units must be ordered in a Standard or Reversed mount. (Which way will the bulk of the housing be facing?)

A standard mount unit will have the bulk of the housing facing inward with the side tracks closer to the outward and a reversed mount will have the bulk of the housing facing outward and the side tracks will be facing inward.

Fiberglass Units: "Standard" Left detail, "Reversed" Right Detail.

Bronze Wire Units: "Standard" Left detail, "Reversed" Right Detail.

Unit mount cannot be changed once manufactured.

Housing and retraction measurements are different for both unit styles.

UPS: Units under 50" in both dimensions: $15.00 per unit. UPS: Units over 50" in any dimensions: $25.00 per unit.
Freight: $85.00 minimum. Orders consisting of many units or several large units may ship via freight due to product safety and shipping cost savings.

Installation Hints...

- Use of power driver is NOT recommended. High speeds will destroy screws / break heads and may cause damage to mounting hole(s).

- Hold screwdriver level and firmly when installing screws to avoid stripping screw heads.

- Run a thin bead of color matching caulk on the reserve side of the guide rails after installation to give a positive seal. (Not on the back of the guide rail itself but at the 90-degree angle between the backside of the guide and the window jamb).

- Spray dry silicon on the side rails occasionally to keep the unit sliding freely. Do not let the screen fly back uncontrolled.

Cool Trick...

Fiberglass window units can be installed into doorways with very little trouble. Excellent choice for those doors that you would love to open only on occasion for ventilation. Note that the screen can only be operated from one side NOT BOTH. This would not be appropriate for doorways used for heavy traffic but is a great alternative to a screen door or self storing door screen. In the pictures shown, the screen is installed on the exterior of the doorway and in a reversed fashion. This allows for operation from the interior only.

Self Storing Screens for Windows

Self storing window screens are designed to disappear when not in use - just like a window shade. They offer an unobstructed view and allow for full ventilation. When retracted in the overhead housing you will enjoy the additional 20% of light that is admitted into your home without screens. They are long lasting, easy to use, require almost no maintenance, and most of all they are a snap to measure and install.

These screens are custom made to order and will fit almost every style of window available today. They can also be used in porches, boats, mobile homes.....in fact, you are limited only by the maximum available size and your imagination and ingenuity. They can be mounted interior or exterior as supplied, recessed in prepared openings, or hidden in place with molding. These units must be mounted inside of an opening - they cannot be installed around the face of an opening. For problem free operation, these units must be installed square, plumb, and level.

Units are available with Brite Bronze Wire screen material or Charcoal Fiberglass screen material. Please pay particular attention to the unit you are considering - measuring and installation practices are the same but housing size is different for each style offered.

How to Measure...

Two measurements AND the units mount are all that is required to order these items. Note that many window frames will vary from side to side (width) and from top to bottom (height). Measure width (W) in several locations - top, middle and bottom. Measure the height (H) on the right and left side. Use the smallest measurements obtained to the nearest 1/16" for each dimension. Screens are manufactured to the supplied dimensions - we will make no alterations to supplied measurements. The size you submit will be the size of the unit you will receive. (Standard manufacture tolerance is +0" to - 1/16")

Housings measure: 1-7/8" x 1-7/8" for fiberglass units and 2-5/16" W x 2-3/8" H for bronze wire units. (see cut sheets for more information) The side rails for both units measure 3/4" W x 1" H. Units are available in standard or reversed mount (see cut sheets for more information)
